There are many TV psychics in England there is Derek Akorah, Gordon Smith, Colin Fry, Tony Stockwell and Sally Morgan to name but a few of the best known names. In America the most popular TV psychics are John Edward, Sylvia Browne and James Van Praagh. To be honest I am not very keen on TV psychics so this might make a very biased article.
The one good thing they do is bring attention to proving that life exists after death. This is the job as a medium, to prove that when this life ends, another world is waiting, which contains family and friends who have passed over before us. Over the last 20 years TV psychics have managed to highlight this belief. Showing us all that life does not end, it is a never ending journey from one form of existence to another. So in reality TV and the media has helped to lift the doubt that once surrounded activities such as mediumship and psychic communication.
TV and media companies have managed to highlight things, but have they managed to do a good job. In my eyes they have not. Often TV psychics are more interested in their onscreen image than whether they are doing things properly or not. Several treat mediumship as if it is a show, they act as a showman more so than as an adviser. Their ego takes centre stage and not the message that is supposedly been given. A lot of psychics can be like this, they can often give more precedence to them being the “great psychic” more so than concentrating on the message that spirit is giving. A psychic is no more special than the next man, he or she has trained their intuitive abilities more, but no more so than an artist would perfect his craft.
Anyone can train to be a psychic, just as you would go to college to learn to be a mechanic, you would train yourself to meditate and see more intuitively. Yes some people are more adept to being intuitive just as some people are built better to be an Olympic gymnast. But none the less, if you want to be the best at your chosen vocation, you have to learn and practice your skills accordingly. Being psychic is not a gift, it is a skill everyone has if only they worked upon it. The job of a medium, is to empower, people, not to make them needy. Jesus once said as I do so can you. Anyone can learn psychic abilities, they are only seen supernatural, because others like to start an us and them situation.
If you know more and can see more than anyone else, it supposedly makes you more powerful, this is the crux of the problem. A lot of TV psychics, love nothing better than to put themselves on a pedestal, they are more interested in feeding their egos need to be in the spotlight, than basically helping people who are lost in life. Not every medium is this way, but a medium if he or she cares about what they do, should be trying every day to be a little more humble, a little more caring and a little more knowledgeable about their craft.
All psychic messages should be given with love, after all the psychic is trying to enable someone else, so they can live their life a little more peacefully. A psychic like Sylvia Browne has no need to get angry or talk sharply to people. That is not how spirit want psychics to work. If the message is not given with love it will be rejected. There is no need to force a message upon someone, if it can be taken that is great, if not the messenger needs to take another look at what is being given.
Some TV psychics can be very friendly, Colin Fry, Gordon Smith and John Edward show a lot more care for their audience than the previously named medium. It takes a warm heart and patience to be a good medium, just the same as being a relate or bereavement counsellor. Being friendly and helpful will not make you a better psychic, but it does go a long way in building rapport with those who seek help.
TV companies and the media prefer showmen, what I am trying to say is, there are many good mediums out there that you do not see on TV, many like to do their work out of the spotlight, they are more interested in being a service to the world than becoming the so called next “great psychic”. What are your thoughts on TV psychics?
